Who, What, Where

We need new kinds of farms operating in new kinds of ways; and we need to embed the new farms in an economic and social milieu that truly enables them to function. We don’t just need “Enlightened Agriculture”, in short. We need a cross-the-board “Agrarian Renaissance”.

Huge though the task may be, there is good reason to think that it could work. Out there in the wide world, thousands or probably millions of farmers, cooks, shopkeepers, academics, environmentalists, political and social activists worldwide, working individually or in groups, are already doing the kinds of things that are needed. In fact there are probably enough people doing good things already to create the “critical mass” that’s required for radical and permanent change.

But although the numbers are out there, and the ideas are out there, the mass is not “critical” because the different individuals and groups are not coordinating their efforts. There’s no need to found an official movement, with members signing up to a creed. But mutual awareness, leading to alliances, is definitely needed.

This section, then, is our directory of who’s doing what where, presented in the hope that new alliances may spring from it.

Please either tell us about yourself; or draw our attention to people and institutions who you feel are doing good things that help the cause.
