Land in Britain

On this day, June 10 2011, the UK has a population of 62 million, and we have 18.7 million hectares of agricultural land (76% of the UK land area), which delivers 60% of our food at 3.3 people per ha. So in very simplistic terms productivity would have to rise by 40%, or feed 5.5 people per ha. for us to be more or less self-supporting.
